Gifts for Boulderers: 30 Bouldering Gifts by Price (2026)

Bouldering is the part of climbing I come back to most, and boulderers are some of the easiest people to shop for because they burn through the small stuff: chalk, tape, skin care, and shoes. I’ve sorted these gifts for boulderers by price, and every pick was in stock at Backcountry or Outdoor Gear Exchange when I checked in October 2026.

If you’re shopping for a climber who does a bit of everything, my main gift guide for climbers covers rope gear too. I also have an eco-friendly gift guide and a non-gear gift guide.

Bouldering Gifts Under $25

These are the stocking stuffers boulderers actually use up. Tape and skin care go fast, and nobody turns down more chalk.

Brushes

Every boulderer needs a brush for cleaning chalk and grime off holds, and they wear out. A boar’s hair brush is the classic pick: the Lapis Uber Boar’s Hair Brush, Metolius Razorback Boar’s Hair Brush, or the Mammut Crimper Bouldering Brush.

Skin care

I get flappers pretty often, especially when I come back from a break, so skin care is a gift I’d be happy to get. For superficial skin damage I’ve used something like Rhino Skin Repair, and keeping calluses sanded down makes flappers less likely. The Rhino Skin Repair Cream ($28) and Rhino Skin Performance ($42) both make good add-ons to a tape-and-chalk stocking.

Bouldering Gifts From $25 to $75

Chalk buckets are the bouldering version of a chalk bag. They sit on the ground at the base of the problem, so they’re easy to share with friends.

If they climb in hot, humid weather, chalk is the gift that keeps getting used. I go through a lot of chalk even in good conditions, and even more when it’s humid.

Bouldering Shoes From $75 to $250

Shoes are the riskiest gift because fit is personal, so I’d only buy shoes if you know their size and the brand they already like, or include a gift receipt. The shoes I’ve worn out fastest were the more affordable beginner shoes, so for a newer boulderer a budget pair still makes sense. For someone who’s been climbing a while, a softer, stickier shoe is where spending more can pay off.

Crash Pads: The Big Bouldering Gift

A crash pad is the gift that gets someone bouldering outside. If they already own one, a second pad is still useful for covering more ground under a problem.
